Overview
B&H Meat Cutting (“B&H,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a family-owned custom butcher shop in Sidney, Maine. This policy describes information handled through this website and the online cut-sheet service.
Information we collect
A cut sheet includes the customer's name, postal address, email address or telephone number, preferred reply method, animal and service details, cutting instructions, approximate product weights, owner certification, and optional notes. The service also processes short-lived technical information needed for security, such as a protected representation of the requesting network address and request timestamps. Please do not submit payment-card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information, or unrelated sensitive information.
How we use information
We use this information to review and fulfill service requests, contact customers, prepare and print required State of Maine records, maintain shop and compliance records, prevent abuse, troubleshoot the service, and meet legal obligations.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Records are stored in B&H's protected PostgreSQL database. When printer-email delivery is enabled, the relevant order details and completed PDFs are sent to the configured email provider for delivery to the shop's configured printer mailbox. Hosting, backup, network, and email providers process only the information needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect people, property, or the service.
Retention
Maine custom-processing records are retained for at least two years from the date the online record is received. A longer legal, regulatory, tax, insurance, dispute, business, or documented hold takes precedence. Other customer information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes. Approved deletions are removed from the active database and then age out of the 35-day encrypted backup cycle. A record subject to a hold is not deleted until that hold ends.
Security and logs
The shop area requires an authenticated administrative session. The service uses HTTPS, request-size limits, rate limits, restricted database access, encrypted backups, and recovery testing. Application logs record bounded operational event names and are designed not to contain credentials, cut-sheet contents, or unnecessary customer details. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure.
Cookies and tracking
The public cut-sheet form does not require an advertising or analytics cookie. The private shop area uses a secure session cookie solely to keep an authorized shop user signed in. Website images are served locally so viewing the site does not require loading marketing images from a third party.
Your choices
You may ask B&H to review, correct, or delete information you supplied, subject to records that must be retained for legal, regulatory, security, or legitimate business reasons. Children and third-party links
The website is not directed to children under 13. Links to government or other third-party sites are governed by those sites' own privacy practices.
